Slips, trips and falls

All public bodies (including local Councils) and private organisations responsible for public places owe a duty of care to ensure all visitors that they are safe when on their land. These places must be maintained in a safe condition and free from hazardous obstacles.

Defective roads and pavements are commonplace, but it should be noted they are not expected to be 100% perfect so it is important to bear in mind that you may not automatically gain the right to compensation for an injury resulting from what appears to be an actionable defect whether that be through a slip, trip or fall.

To support your injury claim, as well as taking witness’ details, you must always take photos of the place where the accident happened (showing the size of the defect and the surrounding area including any landmarks). This will be needed to establish precisely where your accident occurred and what caused you to slip, trip or fall. Photos will also help show who is responsible for the upkeep of that area.

At Myers Lister Price Solicitors, Manchester our personal injury lawyers provide expert legal advice in this domain. We will ensure your claim is investigated thoroughly and advise you on whether your injury claim is capable of pursuing and what the next stages will be.
