Jude Law and Sienna Miller engagement on the cards? Should a pre-nuptial be too?

Love maybe in the air for Jude and Sienna but should Sienna guard against being the next ex Mrs Law and should Jude be generally guarded having already experienced the financial loss a divorce undoubtedly brings?

Pre-nuptials are never going to be the easiest of subjects to bring up with your future spouse but in a case such as this both sides have something to protect and one party could be relieved if the subject is raised by the other. Think of it as a form of financial planning for both of your futures through which you are trying to deal with the “what ifs”. Remembering the words of Dr Rollo May that “commitment is healthiest when its not without doubt but in spite of doubt” may help.

Of course, whilst in the USA they are legally binding they are not, here in the UK. Nonetheless they can be persuasive in Court and certainly, there are numerous examples of Courts following them, sometimes to the letter. They are expensive but if you have assets worth protecting then it could well be worth doing.

Pre-nuptials are not appropriate for everyone and there could be other ways to protect your assets that may be less expensive and more effective. If you would like to know more then contact our Family Law team now on 0161 926 9969 for a free consultation.
